Receiving a text about a customer refund can seem like good news-until you start to suspect it may simply be a scam. That has been the case for Verizon customers who are now scratching their heads over a message about a $20 credit that was sent in response to a widespread outage this week.

"Users should expect a text from Verizon that apologizes for the outage inconvenience and has a link to get the credit," said Mariana Agathoklis Scholck, Verizon's Head of Consumer Unit and Market Communications. The texts are expected to go out starting mid-day. (The texts did not start for consumers in our area until late at night)
