Following a 91.5 percent strike authorization vote by student workers, the UAW bureaucracy has threatened to withhold approval of a strike unless the campus local waters down its demands.

The statement calls the UAW apparatus “complicit” in political repression at the campus and urging that rank-and-file workers take control of their own struggle.

According to union sources, union leaders will decide by March 15 whether they will initiate a strike, which could begin as soon as next week.
